Hats for Haiti 2012
Hats for Haiti
What: Soon it will be two years since the Earthquake in Haiti. Spirit of Hope is inviting schools everywhere to mark the anniversary with Hats for Haiti Day.
When: Thursday, January 12th 2012
Why: Two years later more than 50% of those who lost their homes are still homeless. Hurricanes and disease have added to this poor nation’s list of tragedies. Your school can help make a credible difference to this country in which 50% of the population is under the age of 17 and 40% is under the age of 14.
How: Every child in your school is invited to wear a hat on January 12th for a price of $1.00. The money is donated to Spirit of Hope who is happy to come to your school to receive the money and speak about Haiti. For schools who participate from a distance we will send a video to acquaint students with Haiti. The money collected will be dedicated to funding teachers or people working with an educational mission in Haiti. Educators from participating schools will be given first choice for using these funds.
Who: Your school and Spirit of Hope together making a credible difference in Haiti.
Spirit of Hope is a non-profit 501(c) 3 dedicated to funding individuals and groups working for the restoration of Haiti. Spirit of Hope was begun by a teacher and her former students after the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti because lives of service depend on lives of support.
